Baby Fever

So about two years ago it seemed like everyone and their mother were getting engaged and married. And now all those same people have begun reproducing.

Guess that's just how it goes.

But it's cool, because I get to hang out with all these cute babies now.

Heather and Neil had their tiny kid in December. I was one day off from winning the pool; I'd picked my date based on Heather's feeling that Gavin would be two weeks early. Then I made the mistake of telling Jesse, and he picked the day before me. When we found out they had gotten to the hospital at 8 pm on Jesse's day, he texted me that he'd won. And I said, "No way, Jose. It takes awhile to have a kid. He's going to be born on my day!"

Gavin was born two hours later. And Jesse sent me many "Told you so" texts.

I'll forgive the kid for coming so quickly because he's cute. He's like a little old man baby.

Actually, he looks just like his Uncle Jgushin did when he was a baby. Because I've seen Justin's baby pictures, and Justin was totally a little old man baby.

Heather brings him (Gavin, not Justin) in once a week or so when she comes to do work at the office. And we have fun watching him roll over or play on the floor or making faces at him from across the room to make him laugh. He's pretty awesome.

Then there's this kiddo, whom I can't stop taking a zillion pictures of. Lucy Goosey, of the Jessica and Mikey clan, is just too cute not to photograph . Examples:

I took these today after our egg-dying/egg hunting/egg eating festivities. Lucy's finally gotten to the age where she likes to play, which I think is the most fun baby stage. She's also got a newfound love for snacking on people's clothes: She'll bury her face in your shoulder and you'll think, "What a cuddler!" but in reality, she's actually just sucking on your sweater.

Her cuteness also overrides any annoying clothe-eating habits.

So there's the two babies currently in my life. Come August, Justin and Jen will have little Zoey, who I already know will be a dark-haired little beauty. Because what else could come from a cross between Jen and Justin? She's due the 7th, but I've already claimed the 8th in the pool; I'm fairly confident this kid knows the specialness of being born on August 8th.

I just love those babies. :)

A Friday Night Alone

Not!

It started out that way. I really wanted to watch a movie. But I was all by myself in the house, and anything I thought about watching just seemed a little dark and scary for an all-by-yourself movie night.

So I called Ry to see if he was as bored at his house by himself as I was at mine by myself.

Guess what? He was. So he came over, bringing Napoleon Dynamite.

I hate Napoleon Dynamite.

But ever since I found out it was Tina Majorino (of Veronica Mars fame) who plays the eccentric girl in it, I've wanted to give it another chance, if only for her.

I tried. I really did. But I just hate that movie. Even with Tina Majorino in it.

Then I had a super great idea to run to Wal-mart at 10pm for the egg dye and another carton of eggs. I figured I could beat the crazy last-minute shoppers tomorrow. But apparently a lot of others had that same thought; those seasonal aisles were jam-packed with people and picked-over Easter paraphernalia.

So we had an impromptu Easter egg dying at midnight. I suppose that means it could be considered a Friday at Midnight happening, right?

100

Happy 100th day of the year!
In honor of this momentous occasion, we dyed 100 eggs.

Okay, maybe only about 30.

Wednesday Slump (with a chocolate coated finish)

Went to work.
Did work.
Confirmed a craigslist pick up for later in the evening (a cheap power cord adaptor).
Called around to find someone who wanted to go with me.
Ryan took the offer.
Came home to find Ryan waiting outside.
Went to Mission Valley mall to meet the craigslist guy.
Went to Fashion Valley mall to really meet the craigslist guy, who'd thought he was in Mission Valley mall.
Left disappointed that the power cord didn't fit my laptop.
Decided with Ryan and Brittany to have a movie night at our place.
Texted the OSF, who didn't want to come over. (But he got his invitation. Let the record be shown.)
Watched NCIS while waiting for Brittany to come home.
Ryan starts falling asleep.
Britt comes home.
I decide I have a craving for Dairy Queen.
I persuade everyone else that they, too, have a craving for Dairy Queen. (My night job is being a Jedi.)
We get in our pj's and sweatshirts for an ice cream adventure. (Except Ryan. He's still in his nice work clothes.)
We drive all the way to Santee. (It has the closest DQ.)
We can't find the DQ.
We call Jesse, a Santeean, and he acts as our GPS.
We find the Dairy Queen.
We are told the Dairy Queen is closed.
I beg and plead that we came all the way from La Mesa, just for some dipped cones, and they let us through.
Ryan takes this picture outside the Dairy Queen.

We drive back to La Mesa.
Ryan decides the adventure tuckered him out and heads home.
Brittany asks to watch Twilight. (She's the only one who hasn't seen it yet.)

So our "movie night" turned into more of an ice cream social, and then roommates chilling in our living room. Which is fine with me, since I was already tired out today.

P.S.- Still hating on that Twilight movie....

Coffee Shop Tuesday: For real this time, okay?

Jenna joined us for Coffee Shop Tuesday tonight. Actually, she found the perfect, quiet Starbucks (El Cajon Blvd drive-thru), and we ended up joining her, one a time. Me around 5:30. Chris around 6. Ryan around 6:45.

And despite the fact that there were four of us there, we all managed to get a respectable amount of work done. With some fun roommate banter on the side.

Then Jenn-ay decides she's hungry and wants to split something with me, so we do a Little Ceasar's run (since we're practically there already). Then we had a little picnic outside on the Starbucks tables. And Jenna said, "This should be the picture of the day picture!"

And so Ryan took this awesome picture:

And I think we sold Jenna on the concept of Coffee Shop Tuesdays. Doesn't she look likes she's having fun?

Just another manic Monday...

... or not.

More like a quiet, alone Monday until 6pm when I showed up for Youth Venture to a ton of rowdy kids that I'd never seen there before, plus Mark, who's always kicking it there on Monday nights. We watched some Hannah Montana on the big screen, then I kicked all the kids out early so I could come home and watch the newly Netflixed Twilight. Ryan's intrigued so far, to the point that he may even read the book to compare, and Roommate Jen decided she liked the movie better now that she's read the book.

Not so with me. This was my third time to watch it, and I found even more things to hate.

I can't handle this movie in comparison to the book. I just can't.

At least one good thing came out of the two hours spent on it tonight: I finally finished editing Jenna's birthday pictures. They're on the way, roomie!

And the picture of the day goes to... Jenn-ay!

(Jenn-ay is very happy that you're visiting her favorite roommate's blog.)

Beautiful Sunday

Woke up late today.
Discovered the power cord to my main laptop still won't work, and the wireless on my netbook once again will not connect to our home network.
Decided to go to Cosmos to get my fill of online goodness and squeeze some writing in.
Got a great couch seat right by the floor to ceiling windows that gives me a great view to people watch everyone on quaint La Mesa Blvd.
I'm at about 600 words so far. I want to get to 1,000 before I go home. And then write another 1,000 at the kitchen table.
I'm also looking forward to cleaning the kitchen tonight, and making myself the Best Salad In The World, taught to me by Justin's mom.

EDITED for additional info: Went to Flood with Ryan, and to Frye's for a new power cord... $70, ouch. I'm keeping it in pristine condition so I can return it as soon as I find a cheaper one.

Picture of the day is of the pretty kitchen window flowers that Brittany is currently growing:

Lazy Saturday

So we did our Lost marathon day today. And Beth and Andy even wore their pajamas. I forgot that was part of the deal.

We watched Lost from 2pm until 12:30am, and got to disc 5, I think. Almost done with the first season. I have yet to make a final decision about this show. It intrigues me, of course, but it's not yet one of those where I MUST. KNOW. WHAT. HAPPENS. Shows that fall into that category are Veronica Mars and season 1 of Heroes. As of now, I could take or leave Lost; I'd be okay in life if I never found out what the numbers mean or what the island's secret is. And it's already got a strike one (albeit temporary, because the others promise me there'll be a payoff to my one major grievance so far.)

Ha. The others.

I'll never be able to refer to people like that again without thinking about Lost.

Friday night

Watched Slumdog Millionaire at Ryan's house. Great movie. Ryan made a drink called an Adios, which is supposedly pretty strong, but just tasted really good. Well, Chris fell asleep after drinking one, so maybe Ryan and I just have a stronger tolerance than him. ; )

Before the movie we played Scrabble with Brittany, and she of course won. I kind of hate Scrabble, which is weird because I was an English major and I love words. But Scrabble just kind of sucks. Not enough pay-off in it for me to want to win so I just try to get rid of letters the easiest way possible. Give me Office trivia any day.

Picture of the Day: The ingredients for an Adios. ;)

Oh, Friday

Friday, I'm so glad you are here.

Never leave me again, please.

Hmmm... it's been awhile since we've done Five on Friday, eh? And I've got a few things to say here anyway. Why not lump it all into one post?

Okay, here we go:

1) I've been updating a few notes that I failed to actually post in their respective timeframes. So the time dates are from when I began writing them, not when they were posted, so if you're looking for some juicy stuff like Sonia's bridal shower, you're just going to have to scroll down a few entries.

2) I've started watching Lost. I'm intrigued so far. Beth and Ryan want to do a full blown Saturday of only watching Lost.... In our pajamas.... Okay, fine, it's totally something I would plan myself.

3) Still keeping up with this blog. Start reading it from around, oh, June of last year to get the full effect. And then go back and read the rest of the archives. Jess, this is a blog you could totally get addicted to, by the way.

4) I currently have 3 celebrity crushes:

5) And speaking of celebrity crushes, Ryan's got one on Lea Michele, and currently planning his way onto the set of Glee, where she is currently starring. I'm just going to let him do all the research and tag along when he's got a good game plan.

Picture of the Day update

Because I have not kept up with displaying the POTD's very well, here's a compilation of some noteworthy pics over the last month.

Ry and his new camera.

Bee infested flowers right outside our door.
Birthday aftermath.. three days later.
A TV Thursday.
Late run to Del Taco with Ryan, followed by the live filmed version of Rent.
Coffee shop Tuesday with the OSF.
Downtown at Shakespeare's Pub.
New lens... oh yeah.
Pizza with the boys. Andy's face is like that because he was in the middle of dropping a slice.

Andy vs. the spider
Most awesome baby picture ever.
Ry at coffee shop Tuesdays, the night we got the comfy couches.
And that's all. Hopefully I'll be better at posting these more often. We'll see. :)

Blushing Bride

But we'll leave out all the reasons for blushing from this bridal shower because, well, some girl things should just be kept secret. And I think more guys faithfully read this blog than girls, so really, they don't want to know what goes on at these kind of things.

Let's just say we had some fun at Sonia's bridal shower on Saturday.

These pictures consist mainly of Sonia, Mandy, and myself. For those of you who don't know, Sonia is my very first non-sibling roommate ever, and Mandy was our housemate that year. Then we switched rooms and Mandy was my second roommate, until we joined forces with Sarah and Jenna over at B22. You can read about our many, many adventures on the old blog

We really loved being roommates.

I like how Mandy's eyes always look so amazing in pictures. Roommate, you've got good eyes.

Yep, that's a rock on Mandy's finger now, too. It's just Jenna and I left now!

Awwww....
So she had fun. And there were minimal embarrassing moments. Just the way she wanted it.

After that, Jeannette and I tagged along for her first dress fitting, and sheesh she looks cute in her dress. Even if was still too big, because Sonia's the tiniest thing ever. I got some really great pictures at Alfred Angelo's, but because I know Paul checks my blog every once in awhile, I can't post them here. Sorry, Paul! You're going to have to wait until May 16 with everyone else!

Coffee Shop Tuesday... with a twist

... and the twist was... (drumroll, please):

Long Island Iced Teas!
Watching Monday night prime time television!
A trip to Best Buy!
Pizza!
No coffee shop!

None of which are regular Coffee Shop Tuesday occurrences, I'll have you know.

Hey, it wasn't our fault all the Starbucks we tried were packed.

Jenn-ay Day

She turned 24 successfully. Hooray for Jenn-ay!

And then she told us she didn't wish for anything. Oh, Jenn-ay.

I don't think she gets how birthday candles work.
