John Gallagher, Jr. in American Idiot (the musical!)

After the matinee for American Idiot on Saturday, we waited around the stage door-ish area to get our books signed by the Spring Awakening alum. Michelle and Ryan got a picture with Brian Charles Johnson (original Otto) and we got autographs and talked a bit with Gerard Canonico (original ensemble), but I've got to admit, my favorite was John Gallagher, Jr. He seems very sweet and authentic and he was talking the show UP to the older couple who were speaking with him before us. :)

So we've got two out of three of the original Spring Awakening leads now. Oh, Jonathon Groff, why are you so elusive? And why in the world were you at American Idiot exactly one week before we were?

See, in a month's span, I've seen, talked, and hugged Groff on two separate occasions. I would have gladly trade one of those to see Johnny and "American Idiot." :) Very cool pictures.

Love the pics (especially the angle of Brits)... And yes, Johnny was a very cool friendly guy. I wanna go again!

MT! Don't leave us hanging here! Tell us your Groff story!

Ryan: Thanks! I do try to get artsy once in awhile, especially when it just so happens that my favorite brick background ended up behind us! And I want a sound recording of the musical!

LOL. The first time that I met Jon was in Lancaster when he did a screening of "Taking Woodstock." My birthday was coming up so I told him and he gave me a birthday hug. Briefly met his parents, too. So sweet.

The second time that I met him was at the National Equality March rally where I was volunteering. He remembered me from before and he gave me another hug. We talked about the march. I had gotten Moritz's letter from the show in a BC/EFA auction which was already signed by Blake Bashoff and Christine Elbersole. Anyways, I asked Jon to sign it and he said that it was kind-of emotional seeing it after so long.

And that's the stories. :)

i am talkign about john gallagher jr .... how did you get to meet him ?! i saw american idiot last tuesday night (fabolous show, by the way) and I got to meet Michael Esper, Stark Sands, and a few others from American Idiot but not John Gallagher Jr. He was one of the ONLY reasons on why I went to see the show in the first place. He never even comes out after matinees or meet fans after evening performances.

Aww, bummer he doesn't come out anymore. We saw it before Broadway, when it was playing at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. We met pretty much everyone and got autographs. I think it's because on Broadway there are many more theater lovers waiting to meet the cast, while in Berkely, and since the show was still being tweaked and was in previews, there really wasn't anyone waiting around. The actors just came and went freely since there were no mobs waiting for them, and were totally cool with stopping to talk. John was super nice, and loved that we were there as Spring Awakening fans. :)
